Commercial Fisheries Advisories 2010Legislation correct as of March 2010In March 2010 the Shark Trust released twelve Commercial Fisheries Advisories, created in conjunction with DEFRA and the MMO. The Shark Trust hopes these Advisories will assist the commercial fishing industry and enforcement agencies – providing rapid access to the legislative status of sharks, skates and rays in UK/EU waters.All advisories can be downloaded below. To accompany these advisories you may also find the Shark Trust''s Shark, Skate & Ray ID Guides useful.Please note:These Advisories are intended to assist commercial fishermen and enforcement agencies only. Legislation was correct at time of printing (March 2010). As TACs and quotas are met or altered, some advisories may be subject to change; the Shark Trust will issue updates when they arise. The Deepwater Sharks Advisory applies to the; Iceland Catshark, Gulper Shark, Leafscale Gulper Shark, Portuguese Dogfish, Longnose Velvet Dogfish, Birdbeak Dogfish, Black Dogfish, Kitefin Shark, Great Lanternshark, Velvetbelly Lanternshark, Blackmouth Catshark, Mouse Catshark and Greenland Shark.

The Shark Trust promotes the study, management and conservation of sharks, skates and rays. The Shark Trust is the UK member of the European Elasmobranch Association. As such, it collaborates with other national member bodies to achieve their aims in British, European and international waters. The Trust aims to join forces with other groups concerned with shark, skate and ray conservation issues. These include commercial fisherman, recreational sea anglers, divers, yachtsmen, and all those who want to ensure the future survival of these fascinating but threatened animals.
