Distribution: Narrow distribution in the Northwest Atlantic, from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina up to Grand Banks, Canada (rarely seen north of the Scotian Shelf).
The capsule is approximately 3cm wide and 5cm long, while the whole eggcase (including horns) is approximately 12cm in total length.
One of the most common eggcases found on the Eastern seaboard.

Chain Catshark (Scyliorhinus retifer)
Distribution: Patchy and irregular distribution. Found from George’s Bank all the way down to Florida and Texas; the northern Gulf of Mexico to Nicaragua; Barbados. Compagno noticed relatively high concentrations of young near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.Eggcase is approximately 6cm in length and 2.5cm wide. Curled tendrils extend from each corner of the eggcase and patternation can be seen on the capsule surface.
