Can't get to the beach? Then make your own! This resource is aimed primarily at schools or environmental centres, but if you really like sand, then there is no reason not to make one! Remember to take care when collecting things from the strandline as not everything is safe to pick up, always use a stick or your boots to dig around.

If you can get to the beach why not try making a sandcastle with a difference! For the last two years the Shark Trust has run a summer event at North Sands beach in Salcombe, Devon. Along with a professional sand sculptor and lots of helping hands the Trust has bulit life-size Basking Sharks, Common Skate and huge eggcases.
