Cuckoo Ray Distribution
The majority of Cuckoo Ray records submitted to date are from the southwest and Liverpool areas of England, as well as North Wales - with sporadic findings from the rest of the UK, as well as Ireland.
Small, delicate and rounded, the Cuckoo Ray eggcase can be distinctive with its very long top horns (if unbroken) and lack of keels. They can be mistaken for a Spotted Ray eggcase, although the Cuckoo Ray case is more rounded and has longer top horns.
Read the Shark Trust's Cuckoo Ray ID Guide to discover more about the biology and conservation of the Cuckoo Ray, as well as information about fisheries.
