The Shark Trust invites you to the annual conference of the European Elasmobranch Association (EEA)!

EEA2026 is being held online (6th-8th October 2026) to ensure the widest possible attendance, and to help those of us who spent out our conference budgets at Sharks International!

Abstract Submission & Registration is NOW open!

EEA 2026 offers a great opportunity to present your work to the growing EEA community and beyond. The conference will host the usual talks & poster presentations, plus a programme packed with interactive elements encouraging discussion, collaboration and action. Focal sessions will include 'Living with Sharks', 'Deep Water Sharks' and 'Oceanic Opportunities', however any chondrichthyan-related topics are welcome. With networking a key element of EEA, social events will still feature in the programme.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to EEA2026 this Autumn.

Register Now

Presentations:

Presentations this year will be in three different formats: regular oral presentation, speed presentation (timings to be confirmed), and poster presentation.

All presentations will need to be pre-recorded to ensure a streamlined experience during the conference.

Posters will be presented to delegates in an interactive, digital format, with details to follow.

Submit Abstract

Abstract submission deadline: 12.00 noon BST August 31st. Please note: to provide time for abstract selection, and for presentation recording, August 31st is a hard deadline.  We highly recommend you submit your abstract before heading off for the summer!

‘Travel’ Bursaries:

With no travel costs associated to EEA2026, and with student registration set at just €50, bursary opportunities will work slightly differently this year.

A small number of student bursaries will be awarded to cover registration costs for those most in need, with a focus on delegates from low-middle income countries.

Are you a student and would you like to be considered for additional financial support? Please complete the financial support section on the abstract submission form.

Keep coming back to this site & follow the Shark Trust on social media for all the latest updates.
