Sharks in Israel is a registered non-profit organization established in 2018. Its activities began back in 2014, with the recognition that there are significant gaps in the knowledge, perception and conservation efforts of sharks and rays in Israel.

With the growth of a community of committed activists, its official foundation was decided upon. The association was established by a team of marine biologists and environmental leaders.

Our activity is supported by active volunteers who assist in research and advocacy, and by hundreds of sailors who report sightings of sharks and whales. In addition to our activities in Israel, we are members of the European Elasmobranch Association (EEA) and promote international collaborations, led by the MECO (Mediterranean Elasmobranch Citizen Observations) Project.
