You need to agree to the terms and conditions below in order to enter the competition. Please also ensure you carefully read the image entry requirements, as images not following these steps will be disqualified. 

1) AI generated images and AI generated image content is strictly forbidden.

2) Minor edits to images are acceptable. Colour and contrast changes, backscatter removal, cropping is permitted, but winning images must still have sufficient resolution for the production of our exhibition prints.

3) Do not watermark images - your images will be excluded.

4) Photographers retain all copyrights to their images. The Shark Trust retains the right to publish the contest entries in any format, royalty free, to promote the Shark Trust’s conservation work and events. Winning images will be included in a press release for third party websites and publications in the context of congratulating and/or featuring the winners and winning images. Winning images will be included in a 2027 calendar that will be sold to raise funds for the Shark Trust. Photos will always be used with credit to the photographer 

5) Deadline to enter online: midnight (BST) 31st August 2026.

6) Finalists will be asked for high-res versions by 17th September 2025 and these must be with us by 30th September 2026.

7) Finalists and winners will be selected by a panel of judges. All their decisions are final.

8) Additional t&cs for the Shark Photographer of the Year Winner: The economy return flight, courtesy of Diverse Travel, is up to a maximum value of £700. Flights must be booked with Diverse Travel, and no cash alternative or credit will be offered for any unused portion of the allowance. Should you wish to fly from airport where flights are more expensive, or upgrade your seat, this can be done at your own cost. The accommodation and diving package, courtesy of Agulhas House & Diving is valid up until the end of 2027. The prize is as stated, and no cash or other alternative will be offered. The prize is not transferable. Travel and dive insurance, equipment hire, and any other extras are not included. 

Image Submission Requirements

1) Digital Entries Only via the online entry form

2) Images must be resized to A3 (landscape or portrait). So that all exhibition prints are the same size. (A3 = 287 x 420mm)

3) Images should be entered as JPG files

4) Maximum file size is 4MB

5) Photographers placed in the competition will be asked to provide high resolution files before the exhibition in order for their images to be printed and go on display.

6) Files must be re-named to include: species, image location (place and country), and photographer name (e.g. Blue Shark_Plymouth_UK_Caroline RobertsonBrown). We will rename your files so that judging remains anonymous.

7) A maximum of 3 entries per photographer.

8) All photos must be the work of the photographer entering.
