EEA 2026

Discussion | Collaboration | Action

EEA2026 was hosted by us, the Shark Trust, from the 6th – 8th October.

With a significant element of the shark research and conservation community having made the journey to Sri Lanka back in May, it was felt that running EEA2026 online would help with already stretched conference budgets!

And what a week we had! Over 230 delegates; from more than 37 countries; spanning 22 time-zones!  You presented ~ 90 presentations; 15 workshops, side events and specialist sessions; and over 30 posters delivered in an interactive booklet complete with the option to record a poster pitch.

The speakers truly embraced the process, prerecording their talks to enable smooth running, then taking on questions in a live panel format. And with a broad range of themed sessions, and multiple events running through each break period there really was something for all disciplines.

The feedback was fabulous! We’re so pleased the format delivered as we hoped. Thanks are due to the whole Shark Trust Team, but especially Mark Packer for coordinating all the backstage activity; Jim Ellis for developing the programme; the session chairs, speakers and workshop/event coordinators, and all the delegates for approaching an online conference with such enthusiasm! There were a lot of great questions!
