Paul Cox (CEO)
Biography
Paul Cox has been the CEO of the Shark Trust since 2015. With a background in Marine Biology and Science Communication, Paul was previously employed as Director of Conservation for the UK’s National Marine Aquarium. His work and love of diving have allowed him to travel extensively and given him a wide variety of shark and wildlife encounters and experiences.
With a deep interest in social science, Paul gravitates towards embracing the human dimensions of conservation and has been closely involved in the development of the Shark Trust’s Living with Sharks programme, as well as broad engagement in communication efforts with key stakeholder groups and the wider public.
Speaking with passion and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by sharks, Paul takes a positive view of our role in the survival of species and the actions that we can take today to ensure that we pass on a positive legacy.

Talk Synopsis
The work of the Trust spans international advocacy, working with fishers from diverse cultures, underwater filmmaking and building international partnerships to drive conservation. Illustrated by the Trust’s extraordinary library of shark images, Paul will open up the world of shark conservation, exploring its challenges and his hopes for a future where sharks and human communities coexist to mutual benefit.

Biography
Of all the staff at the Shark Trust, Caroline is the one that has spent most time underwater with sharks and rays. As a professional underwater photographer & diver, she has been providing stunning images to the Shark Trust for over 15 years. She joined the Trust in 2021 to lead the Marketing and Communications team. Her talks include incredible images and video from all around the world. They are filled with personal stories from her travels and dives with over 50 different species of sharks and rays.

Immersive technology in shark conservation
Find out how new, inexpensive 360 cameras have changed how we can introduce sharks to diverse audiences and the profound effects that can have. One special test dive led the Shark Trust to produce a VR headset immersive experience used at events, a 360 Shark Live performance show an immersive domes and a plan to create a short 360 documentary that can be shown globally.

Hear about some of the most iconic sharks, what it is like to dive with them, the threats they face and what the Shark Trust is doing to protect them.
